On IMFDB, we generally treat "M4" as a descriptor of a type of firearm resembling a military-issue M4-pattern carbine, same as we do for M16A1, M16A2, etc. That is, of course, unless we have visual ID on the specific make-and-model of the weapon. Likewise: We typically use Colt Law Enforcement Carbine as the descriptor for any weapon patterned after a civilian "M4gery" with a longer 16" barrel, if we're not sure whether or not it's an actual Colt LE6920/6921.

Having looked at the film on youtube in this case it is academic, as the guns in question are neither as they have A1E1 uppers.
