Yeah but they aren't common and I don't believe they are used today (that Green Beret guy must have slipped up). Most military M16/M4 rifles have Full/Semi/Safe or Burst/Semi/Safe. Of course civilian rifles (which is what "AR" or AR-15 should be used to define in proper context) are just Semi/Safe.

And wouldn't these 4 position selectors be a bit different than one with 3?

The M231 Port Firing Weapon has Safe and Full Auto only but has the fastest ROF out of all AR derivatives.

That could very well be the case, but the way he said it sounded like he is claiming the M4 has 4 positions not the option of burst or auto.
