If they aren't AKMs, then I agree they shouldn't be identified as such.
Edit: If they can be reliably identified as not AKMs, obviously.

There is no way to physically tell an AKM from an ARM though is there? I imagine there are many cases after AKMs were available that ARMs were used, and if we have not way to tell them apart then I don't think we should distinguish. I think the best thing to do is to list them as AKMs, and have the note be in the AKM section that any appearance in US made media prior to the fall of communism cannot be an AKM and is likely a Maadi ARM.
