After watching Nutnfancy's review on the Blackhawk collapsible stock, I don't feel confident with it, nor did I beforehand. A collapsing stock on something as hard kicking as a 12 Gauge shotgun sounds like a bad idea, and for the Mossberg's safety placement, it's also counter-intuitive, as now the safety on the rear of the receiver is that much harder to reach with a lower grip and a stock in between the hand and the safety. I find that pistol grip stocks handle and feel better, but Mossberg has sort of dug its own grave with that particular battery of arms. A standard Mossberg semipistolgrip stock, I think, works best with all things considered.

Sootch who's a Nutn fanboy likes it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swYg9...eature=related But it was given to him, so take it how you want to.

I would trust Safe Arms. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhz6h...eature=related

Whether it works or not, I think an M4 style stock looks fugly on anything unless it's an AR.

I do plan to get rid of the light or at least move it so I can mount it forward. When I turn it on, it's off center obviously.

And I like M4 style stocks on a shotgun. I've seen other reviews of the Blawkhawk recoil compensation type and they seem ok with it. So to each his own.

I hate the standard 6 position m4 style stock on everything...even m4s. A magpul or Vltor type has superior cheek weld and same function. but ive heard those blackhawks do suck, they just look cool i guess...

Sootch likes everything pretty much and his reviews aren't as detailed as other people's sometimes, but I'm still one of his subscribers cause he seems like a good dude and his reviews do get me to look at new products (I got drunk on M12 holsters).

And I guess you can throw up the ever convenient "to each his own" flag, but for a Mossberg especially with the safety issue, or any 12 gauge hard kicking shotgun, I don't see a practical justification for placing one on if it has moving parts and the potential to break. I mean it's a shotgun stock, how can you mess up a shotgun stock?

I don't think the LE stock is that bad or uncomfortable (my AR still has one, which I have yet to replace), though I admit that there are superior options available. The only thing I find annoying about putting M4 stocks on guns that aren't M4s is that most people who do that are trying too hard to make their weapons look "tacticool".

In the old Mossberg vs Remington debates, one of the pro-Mossberg points was the location of the safety. But it's a bit out of the way if you have a pistol grip on, is it not?

I already made that point, but I don't think he wants to acknowledge it. I think he's doing it solely for tacticoolness as Matt described, but in a way there's nothing tactical about it.

The only reason why I want the Blackhawk one is the recoil compensation on it. It's not that bad. If I get a full stock, all I'd get is unmitigated recoil. Sure the Blackhawk stock won't get rid of all the recoil, but it'll help.

Do you know what will help more? A 20 doallar limbsaver or pachmayr recoil pad.
