Though I'd rather just buy the mag extension (and get the extra rounds) than shoot with my support finger on the trigger guard.
I generally just fold my pinky underneath the grip if it's too short

Most people wont carry with the extension, a barrel is way easier to hide than a grip too. At the range, sure, but thats not when it matters. And the thing is, I shoot better so i wll keep doing it.

I find that too awkward. Like I said, my preference would be to buy a grip extension for any gun I can't grip properly. But if one weren't available, I'd probably put my support finger on the trigger guard.

Also, without sounding like sexist, I think subcompact pistols really aren't suitable for anyone besides thin girls with small hands. Even for conceal carry, most compacts seem perfectly adequate. If I ever get my conceal carry permit (probably not in this state), I'll stick with a compact the size of a Glock 19.

J frame or a compact S&W auto like the 3913 would be as small as I'd be able to go

I couldnt see carrying a 3913 in jogging shorts. I can see a flat 9 ounce gun. But if I wear my normal wear i say its good. You need arotation of carry guns. Not just one do it all.

If I had $1500, I'd go over to Collectors and buy the smoothest 1911 ( a compact Briley Advantage) I've ever handled to carry when I get a license

Id want a 4.0 inch barrel like the service model. i like sight radius, having short radius and long grip is dumb.

2/10ths of an inch is not that much sight radius, it's not going to affect your accuracy unless you are a machine that can achieve the maximum effect for which the gun was built.

The 3913 is also not a good carry gun, at least not by todays standards, or not in the league that a J frame or one of these Kel-Tec clones is. They're hefty guns, not much slimmer or shorter than their bigger counterparts like the 39 series (I'd just say 3906 but they are so damn hard to find) guns and the double stack 5906. Aside from being single stack, they're pretty much what the Glock 19 is to the Glock 17, or what the P228/P229 is to the SIG P226, and that's "not that much smaller".

Speaking of Kel-Tecs, they've sort of peaked my interest as carry type guns since they are light, they come in 9mm caliber, they are not starved for capacity like their cloned counterparts, and best of all, they are low cost. I'd like to fire one before I sink my money into one though, and I'm also not entirel off buying an old Model 60 for cool factor in concealed carry. Is that an old stainless .38 only Model 60? Fucking yeah it is.
