The scout rifle tries to be a jack of all trades and a master of none. Sure, iron sights for close up, like it. Ability to use a scope for range? Sounds good. Then you see its a side mount that needs to be adjusted in two directions, elevation and horizontal. Slower, requires more measurements, and not very handy unless you are shooting a course with set ranges and have it pre measured. Ill take a Lever action for brush hunting, and if you want a scope? Get a variable power and turn it down.....

Most Ive seen have it mounted to the side so you can use irons or a scope, Ive seen more leverguns in this configuration though.
