Because I pretty much lost interest in PC gaming about 4 years ago, I have totally failed to keep up with all the advances in CPU and GPU tech. I literally don't understand how to assess computers' speed anymore. When I was in HS, it was very simple - for instance, I remember how excited everyone was in 2000 when the first 1000-MHz Intel and AMD processors came out. It was like, "Yeah, we finally reached the GHz!" But now there's all kinds of stuff about the caches and buses that I don't understand. How much longer until PCs can run at 1-THz, for instance?
