I hate Westboro Baptist Church as much as anyone. That being said, why do we need this topic? Since everyone else seems to agree that they suck, and since political topics on this forum tend to turn out badly, I'd prefer we did not have a topic like this.

You're preaching to the choir on this, Swordfish, so can I please just close this topic?

This topic barely has anything to do with politics. It deals with these soulless bastards who are the follower of a sick, twisted maniac who takes verses from the good book to support his views. I created this thread to discuss ways to fight them non-violently (like Ganhdi or Martin Luther King Jr). Besides, we've only had this thread for a day.

They were at a HS campus to protest a play near me, i went with some friends to look for them but we were escorted off campus by security

If they ever protest in Fishers, I'm going to tear down their stupid little signs and drown out their chants by playing Lady GaGa on a boombox with a megaphone next to the speakers.

Why don't you just ignore them instead? If they don't represent Christianity (as I'm sure everyone agrees they don't), who really gives a shit? Don't you guys have more important things to worry about? Like all these priest sex scandals? I think those do much worse for Christianity's reputation (especially Catholicism's rep) than Westboro.

Oh, yeah, and Lady Gaga sucks. If I weren't an atheist, I might be tempted to join Westboro just to get rid of her.

These things sucks, we´re not anymore in the 19th century to kill another person by different sexual preferences. I´m atheist (and I respect the religious people), but "killing in name of god" is pure bullshit and has nothing to do with religion.

If you weren't an atheist, you'd have the chance of being with God and your ancestors. I'm starting to get annoyed with you espically with that sex scandal comment. I am proud to be a member of the Roman Catholic Church, and don't have to stand to your bullcrap. Have you ever read a single passage from the bible, or does it just stand on your bookselve covered with dust?

Im not atheist, but dont practice religion. Religions turned me away with many of the "beliee what I say not anything else" attitudes. And the catholic church should do sometjing about se abuse besides using its influence to cover it up.

I was baptized a Roman Catholic, and I am now an atheist. I'm not sure what "bullcrap" that could possibly be; it's my right to be an atheist just as it's your right to practice Catholicism.

Right, like I said, you are preaching to the damned choir.

Anyway, how are "we" going to fight them? It's not like this is something for IMFDB members to do. And personally, I don't think people on the fringe are worthy of attention. It's not like anyone who matters takes them seriously.
