Remember I'm only a visitor to the set. Sorry, my contacts in the great white north are cast and above the line production crew only. It's kinda depressing when I talk to a top billed actor and ask them, "So who's the armorer on this set?" and they look at me with a blank stare like I just asked them who the 2nd 2nd Assistant Gaffer was.......

My only pics of Canadian guns from from buddies who I know personally who are big gun collectors or Canadian law enforcement dealers. And even those guys I talk to maybe ONCE in every 3 years. I haven't talked to any Canadian armorers in a long time. I'm surprised you couldn't get one of the other armorers like Al. He must know.

Since they're in such abundance in the industry, I'd figure somebody would have built some more M2s by this point, if they wanted to. But I guess it's just that few directors have asked for them.
People don't stock items that no one asks for and I think most Directors don't even know what an M2 Carbine is (versus the very familiar M1). Also, post 86 conversions are a pain, because you're either stuck with them as a Title II manufacturer or you can only sell them to other Title II LEO dealers or LEO departments. M2s are for sale by Class III dealers, a lot of the pre-1986 full auto guns seem to be shifting around (usually amongst the same crowd hahahahaha). I figure more than a few of the 'regulars' at the Knob Creek shoot have some M2s.

As for the movies, I think the best rule of thumb is to assume it's an M1 unless compelling proof that it is an M2. We have entries in the movie section that have real M2 and have either the screen caps or scenes of the guns firing full auto to prove it. So they are out there.

Hmmmm, that is pretty depressing, considering how much firepower they've featured on "BSG". I'm guessing that their armorer was this guy...

http://stargate.mgm.com/view/content/1835/index.html

He isn't credited on "BSG" (at least, not on IMDB), but then again, he doesn't seem to be credited on a lot of stuff, including "Stargate: Universe", even though this video indicates he worked on that show. I also have a sneaky suspicion that he's probably worked as armorer on 90% of the shows filmed in British Columbia, even though I don't know what armory he works for.

Maybe, though I haven't been able to talk to Al for a while because he's been pretty busy working. He and his boss pretty much do all the shows filmed in Ontario, I know that much.

LMO had one for sale years ago, I remember. I'm not sure who it came from originally, or whose hands it's in now. I do remember that it was priced quite ridiculously (and this was a long time ago, too).

I can tell everyone for sure that M2 Carbines were used on Indiana Jones IV along with M1 Carbines. The one that Harrison Ford had in his hands was an M2 and I had control of those weapons in the warehouse scene.

Ellis Mercantile had three transferable M2 Carbines, two of them were M1's with M2 kits and one was marked M2.

Gibbons Ltd had several registered M2 kits which were put on M1's when they were needed.

Other Armories in LA have M2 Kits that are post-86 but have not seen marked M2's. The markings on them are so small it would not be seen on camera unless they wanted to see those marking specifically.

Although I have knowledge of the other armories I can not mention there names as they are still in operation and Ellis and Gibbons are no longer operating.

Thanks! Its great to get that confirmation for that movie page! Woo hoo!

Per the original post, I knew there were more M2s (and kits) back in the day. I miss those days and was sad to see so many of the big guys go Of course, also knowing how many screen-used Title II guns were sold off to individuals in others states via Dan S. still makes me sad. The history is there, its just spread out all over the country.

On a side note, the original film project that asked for so many M2s (which was what prompted the inquiries to begin with months ago) ended up using airsoft M2s and digitially CGIed the gun flashes in, Eagahhhh!!!!!

It took a while for me to learn that there is an M2 carbine in select fire.
