well, i dont think he wants a ruger 10/22. i metioned it to him and told him it was a common .22
he said he's going for the modern look.

Is the smith an actual ar-15 lower and upper or a clone? If its a real lower id say get that since he can build off it in the fututre, more versatile.

AR. Just because of potential training purposes.
It is reasonable to think that one day he may own a real AR, but H&K will probably never let him own a real MP5.
