You know what? Giving callsigns will probably be confusing to the reader

I've decided to give Ares a shotgun along with his SAW and handguns. It'll be a Remington 870 fitted with the following attachments:

Blackhawk Specops shotgun stock

Muzzlebreak

Surefire 618 weaponlight

What do you think?

The shotgun is in a attached to his backpack. He keeps spare shells in an shell holder attached to his vest. He carries the SAW ammunition pouch on another side of his pack. The pistols are in a shoulder holster (for the Desert Eagle) and a belt holster (for the Mk. 23). Got a problem with that?

The blackhawk stock is supposed to suck, look into a speedfeed.

A SAW (22lb loaded) , Desert Eagle (3-4 pounds loaded), Mk. 23 (3-5 lbs, depending on atachments), shotgun (7-10, depend on acesories). 35-41lb in weapons alone is stupid. No one carries two giant handguns, one is enough, give him a Glock 19 or something for backup. Ditch the Desert Eagle completly, it's a huge, clunky peice of junk with low magazine capacity and overly powerfull, rare, and expensive ammo. Plus, the .357 and .44 model tend to jam du to the rimmed rounds. The Mk. 23 is a bit large, but it's a high-capacity pistol that shoots a well-respected round. Why the shotgun? Is a machine gun not enough? Shotgun ammo is bulky and as the SAW gunner, he need s to be carrying as much belted 5.56 as he can, not worrying about trying to keep 4 kinds of ammo straight.

You both have very good points. I'll get rid of the shotgun and have a scene where Greg advises him not to take the shotgun since he's already "carrying a machine gun, a .45, and a hand held Howitzer". I've also decided to ditch the mining camp and decided to have them be a part of a mercenary force used by the Somalian government to retake Mogadishu. And I've decided a new actor for Will the Doctor: Sean Maher (Simon Tam on Firefly).
