You have to admit, you could buy a Springfield for much less than a comparable Colt (similiar features)

Springfield: Great guns, good price, lifetime warranty, and full custom shop, plus excellent customer service.

Only bad thing is they billboard their name on every gun.

But they are the best value in 1911s.

I totally could have bought a lower end Springfield instead of the High Standard, but I was being a cheap bastard that day. The extra $50 and the money for a beavertail would have been worth it

trade the hi standard, buy a milspec. The milspec is known to be very easy to customize and extremely reliable. And if you get springers custom shop to do the work its all under warranty, other custom shops void the warranty for anything they replaced, springer covers the new stuff.

I already promised it to my dad so he could keep it as his truck gun. Business is starting to pick up for him, so he'll probably buy it in the next year

Here's my method of hunting: Yell "It's coming for us!" and fire a bunch of random shots at the animal.

And then the animal runs before you can pull the trigger, game warden gets pissed because you were letting out random shots

How may game wardens are in your hunting area?...We can shoot all day long and never see one Warden...maybe a border patrol or two but they're only looking for drugs.

Our lease is next to a National Forest in which a whole lot of people hunt, so there are quite a few

Boy. I haven't hunted since the fall of 90. Managed to get an elk, but it was a joint-kill. My buddy shot it once and I shot it again after we had to go looking for it in the bush. I'm not anti-hunting mind you. Just anti-cold, wet and miserable.

I know this is an old post, but I really have to voice my agreement. I've already spent too much time wet and freezing my ass off in the woods with a rifle to do it for free.

Now early bear or muzzle-loader seasons, that I've been considering.
