New handgun and an older handgun

Havent bought a gun in a couple years so i bought 2.

S&W 5906 earlier model with squared off trigger guard, bought it used for $349

Kimber TLE II 10mm NIB for $859

I really like the older 3rd generation Smith & Wessons so the 5906 was a must have. I've been looking for a 10mm for a while and I was going to get a Colt Delta Elite or a S&W 1006. Wrote off the Delta Elite due to the unsupported chamber causing safety issues if firing full powered 10mm (If you can't shoot the full powered loads then why even bother with a 10mm, you might as well get a .40) Ended up not getting a S&W 1006 as they were getting hard to find and the price on them were skyrocketing.

Both guns were acquired from gunbroker.

Nice ones, especially the 5906, looks good for a 'used' piece. Though I'm a wheelgun man through-and-through I too like the third-gen Smith autos, particularly would like to try and get a 4506/4566 at some point.

And ditto to what S&W said about the MecGar mags.

Only way to go. And much cheaper than the factory 15 rounders.

yup, got one of those puppies too. Actually use it as my bedside gun.

The only downsides to a 4506 are that it's heavy (it's very much a belt dragger), and the mags are no longer made and are like $50. Surprisingly, holsters (even left-handed) and grips are super easy to find. I have my 4506-1 not a foot from me as I type this, unholstered on the floor as I am away from home (usual bedside is an FNX with mounted light).

I definitely agree one of the 3rd gen wondernines is a must, if one wants an "old school" S&W auto, as they're basically the easiest to find and high quality new mags are relatively common. Even a budget gun like a 915 would be awesome. the 1st and 2nd gen guns are cool as hell, but not hard-use ready workhorses like the 3rd gens since that BEAUTIFUL black finish they are typically seen with is prone to holster wear and blemishing (also if you break a part you're SOL), and the triggers aren't that great

I've had 6 S&W autos so far (39-2, 459, 645, 915, 6906, 4506-1), gave one away and had to sell another. If I buy another .40, it's going to be a 4006 as they're decently common here since they seem to have been popular (you still see them, now and again) with Houston PD and Harris County Sheriff's Dept.

ProMag is still making both 8 and 10 round magazines for the 4506 (all variants) and the 645. For those who might not be aware of this. The magazines in the photo appear to be all ProMag. They aren't S&W magazines, but the quality seems okay. I recently purchased a couple for my 4586 and 4516 through Midway. The mags stick out from the 4516, but they work which is all I want because they're for the range. I have a few genuine S&W magazines for both models.

Pro mag doesn't make mags, they make defective Pez dispensers. I have a 10 S&W factory mags, always looking for more

Yup with the exception of the magazine closest to the camera and the one in the gun itself the rest are pro mags. Haven't had any problems with them myself not that I've really tried running them to failure.

I have a love hate relationship with Pro-Mag. Cheap products but sometimes horrendously made cheap products.

I wouldn't carry one on a duty weapon or for my conceal carry piece, but I have some for range trips.
