Default Specifications section

Is there going to be some kind of standard for specifications on firearms pages?

The one on most pages are like this

http://www.imfdb.org/index.php/M16_r...Specifications

http://www.imfdb.org/index.php/AK-47#Specifications

However SB2296 has started changing the Specifications to be like this

http://www.imfdb.org/index.php/Galil#Specifications

The problem I have with SB 2296's format is that it gives too much information as if this website is an encyclopedia and sort of gives me a headache when I look at it. It takes up too much space as oppose to the original format ,which is sort of a snapshot or general idea of the specifications.

Personally, I don't like the way it's done on the Galil page. Seems too distracting, and too intrusive.

Exactly my point, The standard should be how it is (currently) on the M16/AK-47 page.

Any objections to me changing the Galil specifications back to the original specifications format?

I would tell SB2296 before doing it.

basically tell him that we all say no to that format and let him know that he should ask on the forum first before such a major change.

FWIW (not a lot), I like SB2296's way better. It's a clear way to spell out the specifications of all the variants. It's not necessary for guns that don't have so many variations, but for something like the G3, FAL, or AR-15, I think it's definitely helpful for understanding/identification.

This website is not a gun encyclopedia, the point of specifications section is to be a brief snapshot of the weapon's characteristics. Also like others have said SB2296's format is too intrusive/distracting....and might I add unnecessary.

I would change it, AdAstra, though I guess talking first is a good idea.

And yes, this is not a gun encyclopedia. For us, the only information that matters is the VISUAL information, because that's what allows us to identify those weapons in a movie or TV show. Anything else is probably not relevant.
