Lightbulb Naming early S&W revolvers

By early Smith and Wessons I'm basically talking about the original top break revolvers. I've seen various naming conventions for these, for example have seen the same gun called the Model 2 Double Action, .38 Double Action, Double Action 2nd Model, Double Action #2 and all kinds of other names. Is there an officially recognised term for these revolvers? If not, what should we list them as?

I go with whatever they call the models in the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson by Jim Supica, Richard Nahas.
