You are 18 now right? You could trade it in or sell it to the gunshop. Though you're likely to get raped on the deal.
The only gunshop in town has a display case full of 1911's nicer than mine, and they rarely buy used handguns. My uncle showed some interest in buying it, but he hasn't said anything about it to me since

Unless you don't like 1911's. I would upgrade the hammer and grip safety as K9870 said. While drop-in beavertails don't look all that great, it'll take care of your hammer bite. Shortening the spur hammer would be the quickest and cheapest method though.

Here's a good article on the HS 1911's. Not sure how old it is.

I'd rather just sell it. I already have all the .45 I need at the moment

It'd be neat to go over to the Briley shop and have them trick it out a bit

Accompanied a buddy to the gun shop the other day. I saw that Stoeger Cougers were slightly north of $400 new. Anyone have any experience with them?

You have berated the everloving hell out of that gun for being unreliable and you've only fired 100 rounds out of it, and it has only hand problems with hollowpoints? Words can't express how silly that is...

Oh and also, a Stoeger Cougar should be under 400 bucks new, I see them for less all the time. I have no experience with them other than handling them at gun stores, though I'm sure they handle fine. I'd save up a little more for something better though.

.
I haven't berated it for unreliability, I have berated it because it tears up my hand and won't feed the COR-BON hollowpoints I keep for HD. It feeds ball and Winchester hollowpoints fine.

You could probably get something better than a Cougar for around that much on Gunbroker or at a gunshow

I also saw PX4s for around the same price, but in .40. I hope the 9mm is around the same or less. They both appear to be DA/SA with a decocker.

Can they use Beretta 92 mags?
