I don't like the grips on Glocks, either. But the thing is, that's a lot less important in conceal-carry.

I would try an XD Compact or something else like it, I guess, though I still haven't fired one, so I can't be sure I'll love it. Whereas I have at least fired the G19 and am already familiar with Glocks generally.

Nah. It isn't shiny or anything. In fact, it's all beat up and the gold plating is worn off in some spots

Yeah, I totally agree. And it's a pretty nice gun. Decent piece + sentimental value = Keeper.
