Default Should I upload gun pics of guns I'm not sure have appeared in anything?

As you all well know, the armorers throughout the industry have tons of guns which are ready to go, but have never been in anything yet. I have pics of guns I'm pretty sure have appeared in something, but I don't know the titles. Should I upload the gun pics (and corresponding gun pages)? There is a difference between uploading a gun pic of a firearm that is in active movie armorer inventory, versus some obscure gun that no one in the industry has access to.

I have some guns which I have photographed already and have prepped, but have not uploaded due to the fact that I'm not sure if they've been in anything yet. There is an argument to post them, in that having the clear pictures of them will help members identify them if they DO appear in a movie or show. And they ARE in active inventory.

Thoughts? Inputs? Thanks in advance.

Generally speaking, it's cool if you upload anything for the simple fact that your pictures are so great that we're honored by your choice of our site to upload them.

Can you name me some particular guns you're thinking about uploading pictures of right now?

Well, I fully intend to upload some of super COOL stuff, like the South African MAG-7 auto shotgun since I figure that it will appear in something eventually.

For the most part, just interesting handguns or rifles that are already blank adapted and sitting in inventory....

The Daewoo DP51 pistol - the correct handgun for any South Korean police and some of their military, but strangely doesn't appear in many Korean action movies.

The AMT Backup, another cool and prevalent gun that I haven't seen in anything.

BTW: has there been a gold plated AKS-74 in anything?

The only gold played AK anything I've seen was in Lord of War.

The MAG-7 appeared in "Romeo + Juliet"...way back in '96 (on my list of movies to screencap):

So if you want to put that up, we've already got a place to use it.

As far as the gold-plated AKS-74 goes, it would be cool to have that just to see what it looks like. Gold-plated AKs are neat (not practical, but visually appealing). Besides the gold-plated AK from "Lord of War", there are nickel-plated AKs in "Belly" (which you can see on Weapons Specialists' web site) and "S.W.A.T." that I know of.

Edit: This thread is from FEB 2009(!) but a lot of new members have joined since then.

I wanted to check with everyone, before I added some sort of formalized rule.

In the past, IMFDB members have been okay with me posting gun pics of firearms taken directly from MOVIE ARMORY inventory because (a) when we may need them in the future when we see them, I won't have instant access to them at that time and (b) if there are blank adapted samples of THAT particular NEW gun sitting in inventory, the chances of it appearing in something is far greater than randomly listing some newly released firearm off the net.

That's the case with the pages for the Ruger LCP and the Browning Pro-9. Haven't seen them yet, but I thought it prudent to actually GET the pics while I could, and have them available to help ID them when they DO show up.

Again, this only applies to guns which are IN someone's active movie armorer inventory, regardless of which armory house it is. Does that sound okay to everyone?

The rule about jacking random gun pics off of Google and putting them up even if they don't appear in anything (the rule about removing them) still applies though. We did that for a long time with the weird "one-offs" and "prototype" guns that some members were obsessed with making pages for.......
