To effectively employ the weapon at its maximum lethal range. Same reason you put a scope on any other kind of firearm.

The effective range of an MP5 is 200 meters but when used in full auto and when your target is from the gates of the White House to the actual building itself, you might want to put those ACOGs on rifles than SMGs

And at 650+ feet, a human being doesn't exactly rival Optimus Prime in size. I fail to see how an ACOG wouldn't be more than useful at such a range.

As soon as the weapon begins to become steady in the target area, the brain switches to the magnified view.

I would like to see an example of any sort of commando unit making use of an MP-5 at 200 meters.

That kinda range is when bust out the assualt rifle, and hell even less than that.

My ACOG did far better service as a poor man's monocular than as a combat gun sight.

'Course, most of my actions invovled spraying return fire towards the direction of muzzle flashes. If the squad leader is blowing through mags, something isn't working right.

Well, do you know any commando units with declassified missions involving submachine guns?

I'm glad they didn't include the pirate boots.
