Default UK not it's own country anymore

I just read this and I'm trying to think what this means now. That the UK is no longer its own sovereign state

Like the EU would be able to do anything if the UK tries to act independently.

Yeah, in the long run, I expect the EU is going to fall apart for almost the same reasons that the UN did: Most of its members do not want to give up their sovereignty (at least, not in practice) to do what the EU leadership says. The responses of the G7 to the financial crisis have made it pretty clear that their ability to unite on economic policy is a myth, and I expect this is going to carry over into any big decisions they need to make in the future.

I hope they fall apart. I don't like these humongous organizations trying to spread their rule over such a vast area. Same reason why I am against the concept of "international law".

Well the only reason there is the EU is to compete with the USA.

It wouldn't be bad if they'd follow our example a little more closely, but they're too arrogant to admit that anything devised by the Yanks/gringos/infidels works. If international law was what we said it would be, I'd be all for it.

As for the EU, it isn't a bad idea in principle (much as I'd personally rather it didn't exist), but the idea of making it into an undemocratic super-state certainly is.

No, the UN would collapse in on itself and fail miserably without our support. Look at their fuck-up in Sierra Leone in the mid-90s as a prime example.

The UN was formed ideally to be a united peace keeping power, but it's turned into a very redundant, lazy, stupid group that has not done a single thing right. The US mostly keeps it in check. And the UN isn't a governing body. The EU is basically the closes thing today there is to a confederacy, independent "states" under a single governing body, but still trying to keep each state their own rights while trying to keep everyone together. It's doomed to fail.
