Default This whole Earth Hour thing is so stupid

Seriously! Is there anyone else on here whose neighborhood/apartment is participating in this idiocy?

Yeah! Almost forgot about that. Damn these people piss me off.

And of course, Edward Norton and Alanis Morissette are promoting the whole thing:

How much does anyone want to bet that neither of them are going to "inconvenience" themselves, even for an hour, by actually shutting down their huge mansions? Not to mention that you know they both probably have private jets and that their homes generate more carbon in a day than my hometown does in a year.

My neighborhood's doing it, much to my consternation. So, I have taken my laptop to a local coffee shop to wait it out.

Is the power company taking power off for your neighborhood, or do you not want to look bad? Id jeep my power on regardless of what others do.

The power company doesn't do anything. It's pretty much voluntary. But unfortunately for me, I depend on my neighbors for Internet access when I'm at my place. So their decision to turn everything off for an hour meant that I had to go elsewhere to be online.

What's really messed up about it is the fact that all the candles lit by people participating in this thing created more C02 than it would have if they'd have just kept their lights on. I'm all for fighting global warming and such, but the whole Earth Hour thing was pretty pointless, actually.

As for me, I was too engrossed in Resident Evil 5 on PS3 to even think about it. It was all over before I even realized I'd missed it. I kinda wanted to see that black Google homepage.

Ah yes Resident Evil 5. It was an ok game, though the villians were kinda too cliche, the story was predictable and the gunplay was too much like RE 4. I mean later in the game you encounter guys with AKs and RPGs and the controls dont allow shooting on the move for this kind of combat. I mean, I get it, stop and aim for zombie shootings, but for fighting zombies with guns...we need shooting on the move and a cover system.
