I had just laid down to go to sleep, and I start feeling two things: Pressure, all over my body, keeping me from moving, and a weird presence, as if someone is standing next to the bed right up by my face. A couple seconds later I start hearing a horrible noise (There wasn't any actual noise, it was all in my head), like a very large group of people kind of moaning in pain a fair distance away, and it began getting louder and louder, and I somehow knew that I *really* wasn't going to like what would happen if I didn't get that noise to stop and that presence to leave ASAP. My first thought after that was "Oh God, help me", which was immediatedly followed by "Try The Lord's Prayer", so I ran through it twice, and everything went back to normal for about 15 minutes. Later on, when I was right about to fall asleep, the whole thing started over, but I ran through the Lord's Prayer again and the presence left and didn't come back.

The wierd part is, other than the first few seconds, I wasn't afraid until it was all over with, and I somehow knew for certain that everything would be okay and that it was safe to sleep.
Okay, that's nothing short of creepy.

I have no idea who either of them are.

No shit; I was terrified after I had considered what had happened for a minute afterwards. Then I got over it and slept like a baby. I had an overwhelming feeling that something was going to happen last night, too

Sir John Keegan dies in August and I'm just now hearing about. What the heck?

Man, this guy was one of the best historians in the world. His book, The American Civil War, is, in my opinion, the best general history of the American Civil war out there.

He will be sorely missed.

Taking the AFOQT on Thursday. Here's wishing I'd started studying sooner.

Yeah, it was all over my Facebook newsfeed when it happened. I studied abroad in London a few years back, and a bunch of my Brit friends were in the War Studies Department at King's College. We bonded over discussing Keegan in our tutorial sessions, haha.

Belated R.I.P. from me, too.

Sir John and Max Hastings have surpassed any American, with the possible exception of David McCullough as my favorite historians.

Well I have about 1/3rd of that first story chapter re-written. I hope to have finished with the writing this week and get it posted soon.

Reading the new Tom Clancy book.

Not to spoil anything, but I can say that John Clark is now rocking a Sig P-220 with a supressor and Ding Chavez is back with a Beretta 92. All is right with my world.

I was reading the Houston Chronicle this morning and saw that a 79 year old man living in my town karate chopped a burglar, took the Mini-14 the burglar was carrying away from him, and held him at gunpoint with his own gun until the police came.
