The trend in FPS' to put the ejection port of rifles on the left side of the rifle has got me thinking: Why the hell don't they just make the player character left handed so that the gun doesn't look stupid? You'd be able to see the shell casings comming out of the gun, but at the same time the designers wouldn't have to resort to incorrectly placing the ejection ports.

What games are you talking about? All the ones I've played have them on the right side. Then again I haven't been looking to closely but that would be pretty distracting to have casings in your face in the middle of a firefight.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R, BF:Bad Company series (not all of the guns though), BF: Vietnam, Black, etc.

If the player was left-handed, the gun would be on the left side of the screen and you wouldn't see the casings ejecting.

Yeah, I know. And I'm pretty sure on those the brass ejects on the left side. So a left-handed player uses a left handed rifle and you don't see the brass ejecting, which is exactly what the developers don't want.
