Default Two Colts that seem to go togehter

I've been reading many of my old issues of Guns and Guns and Ammo magazines from the late sixties and early seventies. In particular articles and columns by Skeeter Skelton, Charles Askins and Bill Jordan. Somehow these two seemed like they would have gone together back in the day. My father had the Colt Combat Commander refinished with the hard chrome in the late seventies. Those are the original wood grip panels that were on it when dad purchased it from a fellow officer in 1976. The Colt DS is original finish. By today's standards the DS would be considered to large to be a back-up piece, but no necessarily in past decades.
