Colt New Frontier SAA
Does the New Frontier have the transfer bar safety, or do you have to rest the hammer on an empty chamber to carry it safely?

At least the ones made in the 70s didn't have a transfer bar; I haven't examined the current production.

I think the only Colt manufactured SAA that has a transfer bar is the now discontinued Colt Cowboy. You do not have to rest the hammer on an empty chamber though, as there is a safety notch on the hammer that allows you to cock it back slightly so the hammer doesn't rest directly on the firing pin (SAA has four positions: uncocked, safety notch, half-cock and full-cock). However it is recommended to keep an empty chamber, as it is possible that a strong enough impact could break this notch and allow the hammer to move forwards.
