They are not getting XD45s, one of my friends is a marine and uses an m9a1. Three are army, and carry a standard m9. And yes, they are all deployed. Pistols may be expensive, but so are b-2 stealth bombers, and we still buy them.

Well one of my friends just got back and he's a Marine. He claims the Marines ARE getting the XD 45s soon. So both our Marine buddies can't be right.

Beretta just got a contract for over 400,000 new berettas, springfield has no contract. I have no idea why thed pick the XD, but I hear stories all the time that go nowhere. An airforce guy I know kept saying they were getting HK45s, never happened. It does stand though, soldiers are issued pistols, if they opt not to carry it, their choice.

My friends dad used to use m16a3s and m1911a1s, and then the seabees he was rangmaster for went to cross train with the air force, who were using m16a1s and .38 special revolvers. They didn't seem to care there guns were a bit out of date, since they use planes anyway.....

When I was in Austin, I meant a guy whose job in the AF was to watch over tactical nukes. He was pretty young, too. Kind of a sobering experience, frankly...

i know a guy who is a 2nd Lt. in the Air Force and is in charge of a Flight whos job is the prep and (hopefully never) launching of nukes. So hes the guy who pushes the big red button. I remember his mom saying: "you may have the power to destroy cities, but you still have to listen to your mother!"
