Default Are there any other forums you have sworn off because of morons?

I don't visit several of my former favorite forums or sites, due to the increasing number of idiots posting. Sure, trolls have been around since the beginning of the internet, but I think that our younger members can't compare what it was like 10-15 years ago due to the fact that they were not old enough to observe patterns over 15 years. There is so much stupidity, relative to years past. Where did all these crazy people come from?

IMDB forums are a joke now because no discourse can be had without endless interference by ridiculous postings.

There was a gun collector forum that just became stupid because of all the postings by guys whom I swear live in a cabin in the mountains and eat insects

So have any of you boycotted or left other Internet forums due to a precipitous decline in civility/quality?

The high road (.org)

Over moderated by powertripping mods who close every other thread, openly insult people, and will terminate your account without reason. Not to mention its stolen property. The original owner runs thehighroad.us and is in court to get his site back.

Military Photos.net for several reasons, among them a moderating staff and numerous members that piss and shit on everyone else and break out into calling people "retards" and shit for the littlest, stupidest things.

Resident Evil Forums (actual name) because of a fuckwit member who likes insulting everyone who disagrees with him and a headcase admin who thinks he owns everyone on the site and can tell them what websites they can and can't visit. Headcase admin even had the audacity to tell me that I had to leave the forum I started and come back to his or a forum war (whatever the hell that is) was on. Needless to say, I tracked down his YouTube account and told him to suck my "RPG". Last I heard, the place had died down significantly after I left due to the most prominent members following me to my forum.

Well, I´ve never left a forum by its users or mods, but this monday, my favourite forum (since 2007) was hacked by some basement-dweller (and now is shutted down).

a forum called airsoftallies (.com)
this goes for all the members there: if you disagree with them then they fuck your life up.
then if you get into an argument they call a mod and he goes bans someone or something.

it was awful. my friend left a comment on the off-topic section called ''music'' saying that he loved Jimi Hendrix (i am a fan too) and that he was a really great musician, if not one of the best

and they shot him down and got into an argument and told him that he couldnt say that because Jimi Hendrix did drugs.
and he eventually got banned

the assholes running those sites.......

Aside from IMFDB, I don't post too regularly on many forums anymore. When I was way younger, I was active on gaming forums (mostly Gamespy umbrella sites), but I mostly lost interest in those sites because I stopped playing games.

I'm registered on a whole bunch of firearms sites (including TFL, the SIG forum, AR15.com, HKPRO, etc.), but it's pretty rare I post there, except for when I need to ask questions about stuff related to guns. I also used to be on a bunch of airsoft forums (including Airsoft Retreat), but I've grown out of airsoft, too, so I'm never on those sites anymore. But airsofters (not all, but many) really tend to annoy me, for a whole bunch of reasons (not the least of which is the fact that a lot of them are posers).

I got sick of Military Photos, too. As much as I respect people who serve, the problem with that site is that there are way too many members who let their service cause their heads to swell. They think that having been in the military automatically gives them the final word on anything (and by anything, I mean politics, weapons, etc.)

Yahoo answers. Wayyyy to many idiots. Like "How is babby formed?". And wikihow. The admins are like little school kids. I put about six months of my life trying to tidy up all the firearm articles and they delete all the pages that I created just because I disagreed with the way they were running things.

TheHighRoad.org is perfectly fine. I've read some about the legal problems, but everyone on the site is calm and polite most of the time. There are the ocational idiots, but is definitly family-friendly, no porn, languge is PG or PG-13, and the members are knowlegeable. There is the ocation off-topic thread, but is a good site. I'm a member there, been to THR.us once, but I decided to stick with .org. I've seen, in a few years, mavbee 1 or 2 comments on the .org/us thing. That said, I have haunted several forums, including the History Chanel forum, and found that 80% are idiots, 15% are sorta-kinda smart and 5% are brilliant. THR.org and here are the best forums I've been to.

What initially caused me to leave was a couple of moderators who didn't like my preference for the MRP over the HK416 and started insulting me over it. I told mod 1 he could call me whatever he wanted but it wasn't going to change my opinion. Then the second moderator gave me a bogus warning for a supposed "personal" attack", and when I contested it, he just banned me instead of responding.

Now if it had just been those two jackasses, I'd have stayed on the forum just to piss them off, but the general disdain of the majority of the community there toward anyone who isn't in the military (airsofters in particular get singled out and constantly bombarded with insults... and, hell, I was called a "Marine poser" for simply having a Ka-bar knife) is what kept me from going back.

I go to THR.us, not .org. .us is run by the lawful owner, people are more polite, and .org was just a minefield of threads closed when mods disagreed, and if you dare have a dierent opinion than a mod, youll be banned, no explanation given, and mods will openly insult peole there. I cant wait till oleg wins his court case, gets his site back and has the power to delete all the mods/members who do this, and takes control of his site.
