My little Browning bolt action 7mm-08's magazine is like that too. I don't like it- detachable mags are better by a long shot

The BAR you're talking about actually has nothing to do with the US military weapon. It's just an autoloading hunting rifle made by the Browning company (which never made military weapons). It's called BAR for Browning Autoloading Rifle, much like their BLR lever rifle and BPS pump shotgun. Most Browning products used that magazine until recently, they're moving away from it as it was never that popular.

Doesn't browning just import guns that other people make? FN hi-powers, the bda .380 by beretta, the BDA 9mms made by SIG, the rifles and shotguns made by the japanese, etc.

Actually, the Japanese make the guns FOR Browning under the Browning name. S&W imports tons of stuff too, like Walthers
