So pissed at cabelas earlier
So I go to get 357 mag for the marlin. They tell me I have to be 21 to buy. Now I know the law says i can buy it if its for a rifle and I state that. (this is cabelas) and the clerk calls his manager, a girl my age who couldnt tell the difference between .22 and 12 gauge, and she tired to lecture me on laws. I explained it was a rifle, that i had bought in store, and had purchased ammo there in the past. She says it doesnt matter if its for rifle se since pistols can use it (but they let me buy my .22 ammo)
Wal mart was out of 357, and i didnt feel like going home to get my ammo (30 minute drive i had forgot to pack it.) Just plinked with my friend shooting .22s. WTF I hate when stores do this.

Stupid ass Gander Mountain wouldn't sell my 19 year old cousin any .22 LR ammo because it can be fired from a pistol. That's why I love my local gunstore, the clerks of which will let me handle anything I want as long as I don't try to buy anything and treat me like an adult

A cool guy at the range was launching 38s out of his model 60 and let me use some ammo to shoot, but the marlin doesnt like .38, it likes 357, due to the case length.

I thought it was funny they sold me .22, the most commonly used round in pistols in the nation, but not 357. Oh well drifted the sights on my savage and now its a nail driver.

Yeah, it doesn't make much sense. Everyone knows there are plenty of carbines that shoot pistol ammo. But I have had to show my ID every time I bought 9mm at Dick's Sporting Goods, and I assumed they were trying to verify I was 21 (because I'm pretty sure I don't look young enough that anyone would think I'm under 18. ) I don't remember if there's a law against selling pistol ammo to people under 21.
If you have friends who are over 21, best thing to do is ask them to come with you. Or just ask somebody you know to grab you some .357 the next time they happen to be in Cabela's.

They tried to pass it as "Law" instead of "store policy."
Law says its defined by the firearm you shoot it in, story policy is that a 19 year old girl is the end all expert on federal law.
