Default Stripes

Anyone have this movie, or seen it? When they're in the foreign country, a lot of the men are armed with a submachinegun that resembles both a MAC 10 AND and Uzi. What is it? A MAC with a body kit? Some weird clone? Anyone know?

They're MAC-10s dressed up to resemble Uzis, back in the days when Uzis were harder to get for armorers. I believe MPM told me that it's a company called Special Effects Unlimited, Inc. that built and rented those guns out. They also appear in quite a few other movies, including "The Dogs of War" and "Raw Deal". Here are some images from those movies:

so I'm wondering why dress them to look like Uzi's? Is there a relevance in the story?

Nah, it's just that real Uzis weren't quite as readily available at the time, so the armorers had to make up other guns to look like them.
