I'm curious to hear about the P64. I was looking into one last year. The horrendous DA pull and the lack of decent 9mm Mak defensive rounds sort of turned me off though.

Does anyone have any experience with the P-83?

Hornady makes a great defensive round, and wolff springs are supposed to help the trigger pull.

Can they use Beretta 92 mags?
I heard Cougars are pretty "meh" anyways

Examples of other guns in and around that price range

Ignoring FFL fees and tax, I see similiar guns to these all the time at gunshows at similiar prices

I didn't think you could get a new SIG for that cheap.

It's my understanding Cougars are just compact M92s.

But seriously, the Cougar employs a different locking mechanism, but is still mechanically functional as the 92FS is, or at least it looks that way in terms of controls. Even so, with the right gunbroker auction, or even by stepping in the right local store, you could find something better at or around that price range.

As for the SP2022, it's sort of a budget gun by SIG. I'm sure they're nice, but it's still one of those "polymer guns made by a company who isn't known for making polymer guns but decided to make a polymer gun" guns. I feel one could do better with their money still, especially when a ton of P228s have been imported by PW Arms and are ending up on the market in crazy numbers as the pre-B CZs and the Hi-Powers from PW Arms before them, though you have to pick a gun that doesn't look like it's seen ridiculous use, and you have to tolerate the import mark they are forced to etch on the side of the gun (I can't get over them it ruins the aesthetic every time for me, but others might).

I'm thinking of selling my Remington 700p and getting an EEA witness compact as a carrygun.

I'm looking for a compact pistol that I can CC AND use in my range's action pistol competitions. It has to be double-stack, 9mm, preferably DA/SA, and preferably around $450 or less.

CZs are too heavy, HPs are too big. I got a bit burned on my Walther P38, so I'd prefer new to used as well.

I have a Stoeger Condor, and it's been fine, so I have no problem with the company. And $409 was for the Inox.
