Default Where did the term DAO-12 come from?

I keep on seeing guys identifying Striker 12s/Streetsweepers as DAO-12s. WTF? That's not a real world designation for that type of gun. I've never heard of a weapons dealer nor user call it that. What gives?

It could have been a game term. I remember I USED to call it that but now I just call it a Striker.

DAO-12 is what it's called in Battlefield 2, but I don't know where they got it from...

Edit: it has a DAO (double action only???) trigger system, so that's why they call it a DAO-12. It's still not correct terminology.

I saw it from time to time on IMFDB, don't remember in what context, but I'm starting to see it again. On other forums, someone just 'corrected me' by stating that the gun is called the DAO-12. I finally challenged that and said "What are you talking about?"

I know I've tried to kill that meme on this site and on the English Wikipedia page. Heck I've activly tried to remove that wording whenever I can.
