You can detail strip and polish the internals of your pistol without violating policy, and you ahd night sights installed, a plus, since i hate the u notch rear. Many departments around me have a standard issue they suggest, but will allow a personal if it meets specs. Many of the ones allowing private purchase say automatics only. Backup gun can be pretty much anything and off duty you can carry pretty much anything you want, I know one cop that carrys a usp on duty than switches to a custom 1911 off. One PD switched to glocks as a standard issue but still allows a 4506 or 5906, and you can carry anyhting 9mm and up.

Whats more overrated, glock or beretta 92? Both get way more credit than deserved.

Beretta 92. The Glock is very easy to use and is nigh indestrucatable

Yeah but everybody seems to think it is the end all pistol that all others have to measure to but in reality is a simple tool that needs serious work to become good.
