When did we start putting links to IMDB?

I'm seeing links to IMDB for the actor pages. When did IMFDB start doing this?

I created a template for it about a week ago after I saw it done on a number of pages. Is there a reason NOT to do it? I mean I know it's not 100% necessary but it does come in handy sometimes....

Well, I don't think it's really needed and they're certainly not paying us to advertise them...

That is a very good point... I didn't think about that... I only added it to like a half dozen pages. I am happy to remove them if you would like.

Just so you know, I only made the template because I saw the links on a number of pages. I didn't just think "oh this would be a nice idea" and run with it without consulting an admin. Just want to make sure you guys know that I always try to consult the admins before I make any big change.

Let me know if you would like me to remove them.

IMDB is not a sponsor of IMFDB. They also make money the more traffic that is directed their way. I suppose you've noticed the increase in ads and sidebars and popups all over the place on IMDB. They have sponsors and advertisers and PAID memberships that help support their site. Though I have nothing against IMDB (they are a valuable resource), we are not obliged to generate revenue for them, especially over our OWN sponsors.

I totally understand. I didn't think about it in that regard... I just thought about it in turns of what is useful to me/the common user. I will discontinue use of this template. Sorry.
