Default M1903 Springfield bullpup

Doing research for a GI Joe story centered around Sgt. Savage and ran upon this interesting pic.

It's kind of weird looking, but still pretty cool I must say. Although I have serious issues with the ergonomics of it. Seems like it would be pretty rear-heavy and manipulating the bolt would be extremely awkward. But still, pretty neat.

Working the bolt would be weird. There has to be a bullpup M1 Garand and M1 Carbine out there, right? Those would make more sense.

None that I can find, but this was John Garand's final project before he retired.

I do find myself wondering how differently small arms development would have progressed had a bullpup M1903 been officially adopted in some way, though.

Israeli law enforcement still uses M1 Carbines, and they came up with this.

If they just wanted it to be shorter, why not just go for a folding stock?

The Israels also made another chassis for the M1 Carbine a few years ago.

The Magal. It's a pity it was a flop.
