The first time I read it I missed the point about going from 2 characteristics to 1 characteristic. Along with the thumbhole stocks and bullet buttons being banned, this essentially means that any ar-15 will be banned doesn't it? Even the post ban Colt MT rifles would be classed as "assault weapons" as they have a pistol grip. Only way you could have an AR-15 would be for it to have a permanently attached magazine which could only be loaded by "breaking" the rifle like a shotgun and loading with stripper clips.

The whole idea of banning particular weapons based on their furniture never made any sense to me. Either you ban all semi-automatic rifles above a certain caliber, or allow them all as they are basically the same. If this does pass, sales of the Kel-Tec SU-16CA will go through the roof.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but we're already compromising on things like SBRs and for some stupid reason, an extra vertical grip on pistols and other things that don't stop crime. This bill still misses the point of gun crime done by criminals who are already breaking the law. They don't obey the laws already in place, they are breaking the law to commit crimes obviously and they are going to keep on breaking the laws to do whatever they want. If this law even in a snowball's chance in hell of passed, the criminals will keep their guns, keep committing crime regardless of whatever laws that will pass.

You know how easy it is to adapt new reload tactics for post ban guns like that? People would be carrying around stripper clips like in the days of old again. Speaking of that, people will then pay top dollars to buy fashion bolt action rifles, the M1 Garands or even a new oppurtunity for gun companies to make modern variants since it doesn't seem to be part of the new bill.

A handgun like the C96 would be selling like hot cakes because it is a 10 round non detachable magazine handgun, who knows, if the bill sticks, companies might even have to make some kind of new variant of handguns to work with stripper clips if current handguns with "high capacity" magazines have to be registered. Revolver sales will go through the roof.

The 1994 bill had about just as much bullshit as this one and it passed. Thankfully the one thing I liked about Bush Jr was that he let it sunset.

Actually, it'd be pretty cool to see C96 production restarted, or a 5.56 or 7.62x39mm M1 Garand.

I would hope gun companies are doing this best to work around potential bans ahead of time. Lever action guns can make a come back as well

I read it after seeing this and....holy shit. I knew it would be stupid, but not this stupid. Apparently she's opposing handguns, even though the Supreme Court deemed them legal. What the hell? Does Feinstein honestly expect this to pass? And do her and others that support shit like this really think that these bans lower crime? I'm so confused....

I'm of the opinion that these people have the logic and reasoning skills of a baked potato, which, when you think about it, would explain a lot.

feinstein bill says it cant have more than 1 military feature. Military features now includes detachable mags and pistol grips. So pistols are banned. And it says grandfathered weapons must be nfa registered. Many states ban carrying nfa weapons.

I have no fear of her bill. When bidens bill comes out, well, thats different. But knowing him he'll probaly make it legal to sell a ma deuce at wal mart by mistake.
