Default AK-type rifles, iron sights, and video games.

I'm starting this thread because of how inconsistent an AK-type rifle's iron sight is viewed in games that have the ability to use sights. I'll be splitting my post into multiple ones because of the image limit.

Let's start with two examples from the same game.

Medal of Honor (2010)
------------------------------
Single Player

Multiplayer

Notice how the SP version has the sights properly aligned, but the MP one, like DICE's other Frostbite engine games featuring this weapon, is off.

Call of Duty series
--------------------
MW1

MW2

Black Ops

Notice how the only one that's even aligned in any way, shape, or form is the Black Ops one.

Rainbow Six Vegas spinoffs
=====================
AKS-74U

A well-done view, at last.

My point is. Some games have the sights correctly lined up, while other games' alignment would, in actuality, result in missed shots.

I could keep on going, but I'd probably be tagged for spamming, and I don't want that to happen.

Yeah, I noticed that when I rented Black Ops. For all the anachronistic guns, Treyarch actually managed to get one of the smallest details right. Suppose I have to give them a bit of credit.

Then, of course, there's the character voiced by Ice Cube referring to a frag grenade as a "nade" in one level, so I won't praise them that much.

24 hours later and nothing new. I'm gonna all the misaligned examples were done by people who have never handled any AK-type rifle before, nor even READ THE FRICKIN' MANUAL (I think some of the manuals include a sight picture).

Why does down-the-sight aiming in FPS's always look like the rear sight is brought right up to your eyeball with your cheek right on the receiver? Also that little bit of magnification on weapons that don't have any sort of optics is very off putting.

Have you ever looked down the sights of any rifle?

Only an SKS, but it's not just how close the sights are. It looks like the gun is gigantic, it takes up the entire bottom half of the screen and you can't see anything around it. It's particularly noticeable with handguns. It's like the character brings his pistol right in front of his face and then somehow his eyeballs automatically zoom in.
