Default New IMFDB logo....

I know I'm not the only one who is a little bored with the IMFDB logo of two crossed M14s. Because of this, I made two logos that I think could work.

The first one I made based on someone claiming the logo should have film reel behind it. Problem was, it is really hard and takes a long time to cut out all the white behind the logo so the film reel could go behind it. So instead I took the old logo and put it through the film!

The second I made with the first in mind but added the four most popular pistols in films. The Kimber was the only good 1911 pic I could find facing the right way BTW.

What do you guys think?

I had an idea where we got an AK47, an M16 crossed like an X and 2 Desert Eagles underneath them just because those are some of the most recognizable guns in movies.

You need to put the Desert Eagle in there.

Strangely enough, I don't know if I'm kidding this time.

I only have four boxes.... and I think people might look at it and not take the site seriously if they saw it. Besides, I picked the top four, the Desert Eagle finished a distant fifth. You all know the four I picked are in a TON of movies, more than the DE.

I'll try to make your idea Ex, but it might take a while.

The second one looks awesome. As far as using the Desert Eagle as the fourth gun, it's fine if you really want to, but I really prefer GM's current choice of guns. The only thing I would MAYBE suggest doing is using at least one (preferably two guns) that are nickel for the sake of adding color diversity. Try the nickel SIG P226 or a nickel 1911, for instance.

One other thing to keep in mind...compact pistols are most likely going to lend themselves better to the logo due to their dimensions.

Here's one I made using GM's original image, albeit with a bit more color in my choice of guns:

The guns are: (1.) Steyr SPP, (2.) Nickel SIG P226, (3.) Glock 17, and (4.) Springfield Armory 1911 Champion.

Here's a simple take on the crossed rifles, an AKM and an M16A2:

And here's my best attempt at Excaliber01's request. A little too busy in my opinion (it's a little sloppy):

I like MT2008s version of my pistols one but I think if I just replaced the SIG P226 with the nickel one it would look good. If figure if someone sees the logo, it should have the absolute basics.

Of course, the black and nickel SIG P226s are facing different directions, but I guess you could try one of the two-tone P226s (preferably the nickel-slide gun). I do think it's important to keep a nickel 1911 of some type (MPM has several nickel 1911 variants, including the Mk IV Series 70), and to alternate guns so that the nickel and black guns represent a criss-cross pattern. Most aesthetically pleasing combination, I think...

As far as the rifles w/ DEs goes...see about moving them up so that they're on either side of the two rifles.

BTW, I almost forgot...I think I can probably make the logo cycle through multiple different variations using the same type of random code that we use for the quotes and "Featured Pages" on the Main Page. So maybe it's possible we could use both Excalibur's idea and GM's idea and they can alternate.

I think we should work on making our own logo rather than just putting gunpics on film. I was thinking a silhouette of an M249 or an M16 or something with some film reels on top, but that's me.
