I'm coming home...
Well, after 8 of the longest and shittiest months of my life, today I finally left Afghanistan. 4 days decompression in Cyprus and I'll be home by weeks end, with a bar on my tour medal for long service and a commander's coin for doing my job above and beyond expectations. It was utter hell at points, and I'm glad it's over, but I do feel a curious sense of accomplishment.

I've so happy for you. And thank you for your service (even though it's not to my country specifically).

Well, I'm finally home (Winnipeg I mean)! Long 8 months. It's good to be back, I look forward to settling in. I didn't get up to anything crazy in Cyprus, I've kind of outgrown it and I'm hoping to salvage with a certain young woman now that I'm home. We'll see.
My PTRD-41 is here, all the other guns I've bought while away are in the mail. Imagine my dissapointment on finding out the Cabela's I used to work at has, while I've been gone, discontinued stocking .30-40 Krag. Although I'm not sure why we carried it in the first place, it's kind of a specialty item up here. |

Hope that goes well. I don't know a whole lot of guys who were able to keep relationships going while on deployment (I'm sure you do, too). But...nothing's impossible.

Welcome back to the great wide north!
Give your new AT rifle a good caress for me. |
