I meant that next time I get into the safe, Im going to take my shotgun and stick it on the gunrack above my bed. Until then I'd have to get my 4506 out of the top of my closet if someone breaks in

I typically keep whatever I'm carrying that day either under my bed or on a table next to my bed. Typically that's either a Springer 1911 Loaded Black Stainless .45acp or a Springfield XD .40s&w, but I've also been known to have my Glock 17 or my HK P2000 there too.

As for long guns, I have a bunch of options but the best 3 are either the Mossberg 500 Persuader 12ga, the Bushmaster AR-15, or the AK-47 clone. I typically dont leave those out of the safe though. But at least the safe is in my room.

I have a couple guns in my personal safe that's in my room, but one is my Browning hunting rifle and the other is my M44, neither of which is even remotely suitable for home defense. Then there's my High Standard, which won't even feed the ammo I use for home defense, so that's out. Above my bed is the Wincheter 88, but there is no way in hell I'm using that for defense unless I really need to. Finally, there is my 4506, which suits my needs but is in my closet because I don't have a nightstand

I dont have one but I like my friends style which is a Semi-auto mini-uzi between his bed and the nightstand.

SW shooter, just put it nder your bed, more accessible than a closet, your name here, knowing the 5906s rep it will digest HP ammo all day long. Not to mention 9mm fmj is weak and overpenetrates, a safety concern. And to the mini uzi there, well, a prosecutror will have a field day with them if its ever used, no matter how justified it is.

At least I'm not like my father who keeps a Kimber Team Match II on one nightstand, a S&W Airweight in the other, a Ruger Redhawk (with a scope!) on his dresser and a Winchester Model 12 hunting shotgun in 16 Gauge next to his dresser

My buddy's father once said that if anyone were to break into my house it would sound like Call Of Duty

Well, I try not to think of the sea can I'm living in as home, but I keep my Hi Power hanging off the bedpost in my shoulder rig.

Of course that's more of a "get dressed quickly so I can sleep longer" thing than anything.
