Default Two Tone M16A1?

I borrowed "Operation Dumbo Drop" from the Library and I noticed that the lower receiver of the M16A1 that Ray Liotta uses is stainless steel or something.
Anyone have any idea why?

It's possible that the gun is a frankenstein, and was built with a stainless lower, or the finish for the lower was just worn the fuck off when they built it. Could be a trick of the lighting too.

It's not a trick of the light, its like that in all the scenes.

It seems there are 2 rifles in the film that are like this. I also don't see any stainless steel AR-15s anyways so I don't think it could just be a case of frankengun.

Just wear. The lower receiver is made of aluminum so the parkerising comes off faster, exposing bare metal. Notice how the finish still exists in the low points on it. I've pulled C7s out of storage in a room with leaky pipes, they looked pretty similar.

Wow, didn't know this could happen to an AR-15

Cool. Now I'd like to see a two-tone M4 and HK416.
