For some, too many 1911s is never enough. I shudder to think of how large the 1911 page here on imfdb is and how some people might actually have such a large collection, if not bigger.

I was going to respond to this a few days ago but forgot.

That's a great thread. I didn't realize Kimber used cast frames. I knew about them using MIM parts, even on their higher end customs. Even though the cast frames might not every pose a problem. If I was to spend that kind of money, I would want forged.

Honestly it depends on the quality of the castings or forgings to me. Either has to be done well. It seems every internet forum says that forgin is wayyy better than cast, but i think a frame cast by caspian will be better than one forged by a company like lorcin, and ruger parts are almost all cast and known for ruggedness.....I agree forged beats MIM though, but Kimber is pretty pricy for what you get there, and there 1 year warranty blows for the high end prices......Ive shot a ton of rounds through a base custom 2 however and it has run 100% with factory mags....i had two jams on a cheap promag or triple k or something like that but those are crap.

I think its funny the guy with the coolest 1911 collection ive ever seen is the biggest glocktalker ive ever seen but you know, jsut cause its a glock site doesnt mean that somebody with taste wont show up

And that is a very nice 1911 you've got there.

Springer right?

BTW, i think ruger is making a 1911 probably announced at nra show next month. its a good move, seeing there was a billion 1911s at shot show and they may get more press this way.

I was researching the ruger gunsite scout, and they had a media day to test the scout. Several pictures on forums had the autors blacking out holsters, like they werent allowed to show what they were carrying. Then i saw ideo of a run and gun course they had and a few of the gun media had a 1911 that looked like the ruger cast steel with black grips. So what they were hiding was a 1911. Im just hoping that we do get a cheap, rugged american 1911 from ruger. They use no mim as it is and investment casting is strong stuff.
