Default PM issue.

I see that a lot of Users in this forum don't respond to their Private Messages.

I think it is because the Menu above is way too discreet. Maybe we should change it?
Any one agree?

I don't think this forum is something you can modify. I don't think it's that hard to find your new message thing, it tells you in the top right.

Maybe Bunni could make some threads that cannot be edited that just talk about forum rules, and add something about the PMs. I've been on forums that had that before.

Well, looking over the manual you should be able to do that as a moderator [most boards allow that as a mod power]. Just to run though it, apparently when you look at the forums as a moderator, you see a tickbox by each thread. This is their example:

Like that, according to their help page. To make a rules thread like the ones you've seen, post it, then tick the box and click "stick thread" in the drop-down menu at the bottom of the page, then "Go." This places the thread at the top of the forum, outside the normal posting order.

Then do the same, but click "close thread" before "Go." You now have a thread that's always at the top of the forum and which nobody can reply to.

The CP can be set to where you get an email if someone sends a PM. Just go into your CP, click "edit options", scroll down to the private messaging section, and check the circled boxes.

The first one enables the board to send you an email when you get a PM and the second gives you a little pop-up box informing you that you have a message when you log on/are online.

I'll look into this more. I guess I haven't explored my options well enough.

I've been on this forum since the start and I'm not a mod.

I think with PMing other people, I am more used to people posting in my Profile discussion page. It sends an email to me right away about it. And no one has yet to PM me here anyway.

Right now I'm the only Mod on the forum. I don't know why. Bunni just didn't get around to it, so don't take it personal.
