Default Officially I am bad at screencaps

Ok I've finally gotten VLC Mediaplayer to work on a computer of mine(Unfortunatly I am going to have to kill this hotbar bullshit). I've gotten my hands on a disk with a couple of Chuck Norris films that need screencaps. Now I'm playing the film at 1/10th normal speed and somehow I haven't been able to get a clear image of anything other than the muzzle of a mortar. Does anyone have any advice so I can make the Missing in Action and Delta Force 2 pages look as good as the Death Machine page?

Playing slowly isn't going to work. If you're not quick enough, the frame you want can still go by.

What you have to do is use the frame-by-frame feature (which you can bring up by going to "View" and then "Advanced Controls") to find the clearest shots of the weapons. Only problem is, it can sometimes cause VLC to freeze when playing DVDs (with Blu Rays, it sometimes causes a type of weird skip and image distortion).

It takes a good eye and some practice to master. Also remember that it's usually not a quick process. Sometimes, it can take several hours to screencap a movie. Right now, "The Hurt Locker" has taken me several days of on-and-off work.

I get you although it's frustrating when you have a perfect shot of a M203(it looks like a real one) and you just can't get it. Any other tips you can give me like how to get the images into a specific folder or to get them to save is JPEG?

Go to Tools, then preference, click on video that's where you set up the pic folder and change to jpeg.

Frame by frame is the best way to get good caps. When I cap a film I usually end up with about 100+ total caps (depending on the film) and end up using maybe 20 or 30.
