The grenade that Kenneth Branagh is holding is a Gewehrpanzergranate 30 also known as GewPzGr. 30 Rifle Grenade. The tail cap has rifling to match the rifled bore of the grenade launcher. I have some photos will post when I am back at home.

That? But the one in Gunmaster's pictures looks like it's made of wood, and he seems to be operating it using the arming pull cord of a stick grenade.

Actually, there was dual purpose rifle or hand grenade, also known as the Model 30, with a pull igniter. They were colored yellow, which is why it looks like its wood.

You are correct Nyles as I listed it wrong. The name is Gewehr-Sprenggranate Model 30. You can see is in this link.

Don't feel bad, I'm a collector and WW2 German ordnance terminology even confuses me sometimes.

Default Some pearls...

As you may or may not know..the Stg 42 AKA the Sturmgewher 42 was the first gun given the title "assault rifle"..by Hitler himself. Sturm meaning storm, loosely translated to assault for some reason. And gewher meaning rifle. Sooo..your Gewehr-Sprenggranate Model 30 is the "rifle-high explosive shell model 30.

Interestingly, before that it was known as the MKb.42 (H), or Maschinen Karabiner. They didn't even abbreviate Karabiner the standard way.

What's so complicated about words like Fernsprechbetriebspanzerwagen?
