I don't have any pictures, but when I was overseas one of our rifle companies confiscated a signle-shot break-action 12 gauge that had an AK folding stock and pistol grip for a mentally defective dwarf who was threatening them with it. I could not make that up.

We use to call it WADWAS. Weird Afghans Doing Weird Afghan Shit.

Seriously I'm not sure if my family got that far east but we have seen Serling SMGs that were so well copied that unless you had the real thing next to it and took a close look at the internals you wouldn't know that it was a reproduction and would blow up in your face after a bit.

Those are great. Wouldn't want to shoot them, but they are great.

The State of Idaho owns and operates a history museum. There is now a very impressive firearms museum that is an offshoot of the state history museum.

A few years ago the curator let me into the vault - which is where all the good stuff is. There were several Viet Cong manufactured firearms that were recovered from jungle/tunnel workshops by G.I.'s back in the 1960's. How they got to Boise, Idaho I don't know, but they are something to see.

Just like the ones in the photos.

Speaking on non-Khyber shop-made guns, I seriously considered buying this a few months back. I always figured I'd get around to picking it up but unfortunately the owner of the shop passed away so I may not get the chance. It's a Chinese-made copy of a Browning 1900 in 7.63mm Mauser, dating to about the 20s or 30s and probably used (well, carried anyways, I sure wouldn't shoot it!) in the fighting there between warlords, Nationalists, Communists and the Japanese at various points. Handmade + low-quality steel + unlocked breech gun + high-pressure cartrdge = total hand grenade, but I think it's really cool. Note the gibberish markings - when the intended users didn't even use the same alphabet I doubt they'd have noticed.

Wow, they make Armsel Protectas? With actual plastic furniture? That's impressive. I can't imagine the ISAF forces would be too happy about meeting militiamen armed with those in a village.

I haven't seen too many pics of the guns made over in the tribal areas, but I've heard that those gunsmiths can duplicate almost anything. Apparently, some of them are now making copies of G3s and MP5s captured from the Pakistani forces. I can hear H&K bitching about that now...

EnglishRussia has a post on various captured Chechen guns. Quality ranges from highly questionable to frightening.

Some of those home made guns look awesome but you couldn't pay me to shoot them.
