I know we've discussed Fred Phelps in my "Politcal Douches" thread (it was an epic fail and me and MT2008 ended on a vey bad note), but I have decided to discuss him in further detail. Anyway, there are a few things that caused me to dispise and loathe the Westboro Baptist Church. The first is when they picketd the funeral of Matthew Shepard. Matthew Shepard was beaten with the barrel of a Smith & Wesson .357 revolver and left to die out in a field, tied to a fence. The reason or why he was assaulted was solely because he was a homosexual. The Westboro Baptist Church protested at his funeral and the trial of his assaliants. They said that he was rottening in hell. They displayed signs saying "Matthew Shepard rots in hell","AIDS kills Fags Dead", and (the most repulsing of all) "God Hates Fags". This is basically reopening the wounds of Shepard's loved ones and pouring salt on it.

This is my reason to hate the Westboro Baptist Church. Please respond and comment. I'll provide more information later.

It's a crying shame that these assholes are allowed to protest someone's funeral just because of their sexual preference.They remind me of those fuckers in Jasper who pretty much threw all the non-Baptists out of town

I hate Westboro Baptist Church as much as anyone. That being said, why do we need this topic? Since everyone else seems to agree that they suck, and since political topics on this forum tend to turn out badly, I'd prefer we did not have a topic like this.

You're preaching to the choir on this, Swordfish, so can I please just close this topic?

This topic barely has anything to do with politics. It deals with these soulless bastards who are the follower of a sick, twisted maniac who takes verses from the good book to support his views. I created this thread to discuss ways to fight them non-violently (like Ganhdi or Martin Luther King Jr). Besides, we've only had this thread for a day.

They were at a HS campus to protest a play near me, i went with some friends to look for them but we were escorted off campus by security

If they ever protest in Fishers, I'm going to tear down their stupid little signs and drown out their chants by playing Lady GaGa on a boombox with a megaphone next to the speakers.
