Are you making like a legit book? Or just some fun stuff? BTW, .38 super handguns are quite common in mexico. A colt 38 super would be more realistic than an ultra carry

k9870,
The story started out as something for fun but some of my friends really like the characters and and a couple of people who either have or know a close friend with realy shitty upbringings have said that the characters sound relativly realistic. As far as Maria's subcompact .45. At this point in the character's history they are dwelling around the El Paso area so as the .45 is more common north of the border and the .45 has more spare parts... She chose the .45. Besides not only is Johnny is a fan of the .45 but one of the desert rats who advise her on desert survival carries one.

the following character images were done by a friend of mine. I hope you all enjoy.
Maria Murphy

Johnathan Bishop

Id say if you have developed characters and a plot, go ahead and write a book. A book where the author knows about guns is something I want to see. Those Vila guards may use 38 supers too.

Hey, a fellow fiction writer!

Pretty comprehensive lists. I wish my own weapon spreadsheets were that detailed...

I've been playing Roleplaying games for a great many years and I'm one of those people who gets asked for realisic weapon stats so that people don't see a Katanna inflict 10D10 damage while a 20mm Autocannon only does 8D10.
It sort of leaks over into my fiction as I try to find some way to game out my various action scenes. it explains as to why my characters almost allways get dinged up when they get into anything close to a fair fight.

Also even if i don't name a weapon in the final story it's nice to know what everyone is carrying so I can portray things more accuratly IE no bottomless magazines or M-60 machineguns chambered in 7.62X5.56mm .45ACP 230 grain hollowpoint wadcutter. yeah I've read very similar lines in a fictional adventure novel.

I was reading about a model 29 .357 today lol.

There was also the Shane Schofield Series by Matthew Reilly, lots of guns, lots of action, althogether great. The problem was what they do with the guns, no marine carries a Deeg or dual wields with an m16a2 and a mp7.....

there in lies the rub of having action sequences in any work of fiction. People who know what the f#ck they are talking about will pick apart your action sequences if you get them wrong and you will have c-pipe smokers pick apart your work if you go for realism. I'm shooting for some semblance of realism and noting that my stories are just fantasy and have little semblance to reality.

Basically if the badguys have stolden an M-240B you had better hope that they blow out the barrel or run out of ammo before they blow away whatever you are useing for cover.

As far as my stories setting goes it starts about the year 2018 and goes on from there and it's not a great place with Mexico a house of cards that's nearly in the hands of the drug cartels. The cartels have ended up with a status Quo and they like it that way. so having some kid ordering hits on us law enforcement and generally useing his own product is a bad thing. As far as the US goes we have had eight years of bad politics and are midterm of a moderate coup de etat so to speak. Things are bad but are looking up, and alot of bad laws are being repealed or rulled uncostitutional.
