They are traditional Romero zombies. Sometimes they walk slowly and shuffle around and something they can run. It's not clear if some can run or some can walk.
Like the ones form Resident Evil can only walk and maybe walk fast but never run at top speed like in Dawn of the Dead. The zombies in Walking Dead looks like they have more intelligence, like the ability to grasp door handles and twist them and more aware of their surroundings. They also seem to "remember" where they were last killed or even homes and would revisit them constantly and even try to enter the house. Also object memory like a little girl zombie still clutching her teddy or picking up her stuff bunny. These are even more dangerous zombies that traditional ones
