Looks like a Colt. Maybe an Official Police?

It looks like an old Colt Border Patrol. Colt Official Police with a heavy "bull" barrel. Only a few hundred were made in the early fifties. The barrel doesn't appear to have the tapered barrel of the regular OP or even the large framed Colt New Service. It has a heavy stovepipe appearance. Could also be a Colt Official Police that somebody put a heavy barrel on sometime in the past.

The film is set in 1978, so that would make sense.
